Returning to the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre in March 2024, AOG Energy serves as Australia’s premier Energy event. However, AOG Energy is not just an event; it's a cornerstone for innovation and growth in the oil, gas, and clean energy sectors. With a diverse mix of products, exhibitors, forums, and speakers, it's a hub for opportunity, discussion, and leadership. With a renewed focus on the energy transition in Australia's energy landscape, AOG Energy provides genuine commercial opportunities to connect with industry leaders and drive business growth.

Offshore Technology Focus recently spoke with event director Mike Hill to get some more insight into what’s happening at AOG Energy, and what visitors and exhibitors can look forward to.

For those who haven’t been, what is the AOG Energy event?

AOG Energy is Australia’s leading Industry Energy event where influential people come from across the whole value chain to collaborate, learn, network and exchange business ideas over three days of meaningful conversations. AOG Energy aims to connect people with opportunity in global and domestic markets. This all made possible by our key supporters and strategic partners including the Western Australian government, Woodside, Chevron, CODA (The Centre of Decommissioning Australia), City of Perth and IBM.

What topics or themes are you anticipating to see at AOG 2024?

With the landscape of the Energy Industry changing so rapidly we are seeing more and more innovation and opportunities in the future energy space. This year we are excited to have a new focus on Wind Energy, from a strategic view in the Future Energy Forum, to a more technical aspect in the Subsea Forum. We also anticipate a refocus of the mind on the importance that gas will play in the energy transition.

AOG Energy will have several Ministerial keynotes and high-level debates discussing the future of resilient supply chains. Other key themes that will run across the three conference forums and the event more widely are decarbonisation, hydrogen, CCS, decommissioning, technology, project optimisation, and the future of workforce.

With over 150+ speakers in total all supported by a number of our key content partners including Baker Hughes, IBM, and Deloitte the event aims to provide the latest market updates and key learnings to all delegates in attendance.

What’s new this year?

We have quite a lot of new features this year including a busy networking program with site visits for Internationals, a Golf Day, and array of other events. If I had to pick one, we are excited to be launching a Next Generation Program in partnership with Engineers Australia, Energy Club WA, and AREEA.

We have created a number of exciting touch points for graduates in attendance, including two panels encompassing future skills and next generation leaders, graduate tours of the exhibition, year 6 students meeting brand ambassadors, and a 1-hour session for graduates to meet potential employers. Competing for future talent is one of any industries key challenges, and Energy is no different. It’s also worth mentioning we have a larger international presence this year including, delegations and pavilions from Scotland, Alberta, Japan, Timor Leste, Indonesia, UK and Norway. We are looking forward to providing a warm welcome to all overseas visitors at our International Delegate Briefing on Monday evening led by Investment and Trade Western Australia (ITWA).

What are some of your hopes that attendees will extract from AOG Energy?

When events are running at their absolute best, opportunity sits a little above learning. One of AOG Energy main commercial strengths is connecting the entire whole value chain and bringing the local and global markets together to help ignite discussions and strengthen new business growth. A lot of this business takes place on the exhibition floor and with 270+ companies exhibiting and services spanning smart tech, innovation, engineering solutions, Asset Integrity, and much more. I hope the Technical, buying and procurement teams in attendance get to meet and discuss the key operational challenges they have with potential Tehcnology and solution providers. I also hope attendees leave the event inspired and motivated to work in what is a great industry that provides an invaluable service and positive impact on society.

Why should people attend?

AOG Energy primary focus is on connecting people with opportunity, and with registration tracking strongly at 20% up YOY and almost 7000 expected attendees to attend, whether it’s meeting a potential new customer, learning about the crucial role CCS will play in the energy transition, or networking with Industry peers at the opening drinks receptions, AOG Energy is the Energy event to attend, and WA the state to visit.
