Under intense conditions at sea, safety is not to be compromised. Should the unwanted event of a fire arise, a fire pump can mean the difference between life and death.

Water fire pumps are considered primary components in the fire protection systems on board all ships.

The pumps are customized to meet required specifications and comply with NFPA20, FSS Code and class regulations. The pumps are manufactured and thoroughly tested at IRON Pump production and test facilities in Denmark.

The fire pump specifications range from 30–3000 m3/h up to 150 mWC.

The fire pumps are normally fitted with two pumps: a main pump and a feeding pump.The main pump is driven by a diesel engine or an electrical motor and the feeding pump is driven hydraulically. 
The fire pumps may be fitted in a container, with main- and feeding pump, or vertical turbine pump. With this compact and simple solution, logistics and installation are fast and easy, cutting down man-hours. 

Installation and commissioning is carried out by IRON Pump service technicians, who are available for support before, during and after
start-up.

IRON Pump A/S, was founded in the year 1906 by Mr. C.G. Arnesen. Through more than 100 years, the descendants of the founder have been involved in the management of IRON.

In 1912, IRON Pump developed and patented a wing pump, which was installed in the world’s first ocean going diesel motor vessel, M/S Selandia. Today, marine pumps are supplied world-wide, close to 90 percent of the output is through a network of agents exported to more than 70 countries.
